As the year draws to a close, we can’t help but look back on all that has happened in the last 12 months. 2021 was a monumental year for us. We set a lofty goal of closing 365 transactions, celebrated the addition of 11 new agents on the team, and bid a fond farewell to one of our long-time agents, Tracy Peer, as she embarked on a new journey of retirement.

While we technically didn’t meet our goal of helping one family per day of the year with 365 closings. We did come very close, with 362 families helping. If you count taking three days off to celebrate the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, we fulfilled our calendar year of 362. We also more than doubled our sales from 2020, our production number is an incredible $377 MM, our agents traveled far and wide to help their clients, from Santa Cruz to Carmel, the greater bay area, and everywhere in between! So please, join us as we reflect on some of our highlights from 2021.

  • First Quarter – The post-holiday winter months tend to be slower for many folks; this was not the case here at ROOM Real Estate. We hit the ground running with 16 listings in January alone, including 2080 Redwood Dr, Santa Cruz. This sprawling estate was enjoyable to list due to its unique layout and its potential to be divided into two separate dwellings. It also featured spectacular ocean views despite being tucked deep into the mountains.  This quarter, we also saw the debut of newly licensed Realtor Mario Desantis hit his stride. Hailing from Italy, Mario had only had his license for a few months when he wowed us by closing an incredible seven deals in his first quarter.

  • Second Quarter The second quarter was a whirlwind, with 144 transactions closed! We celebrated with a team dinner at Laili in downtown Santa Cruz. We also saw a rise in agents expanding the regions in which they service clients. Thanks, in part, to our Zillow Flex partnership, one of our top producers, MJ Stearns, started focusing on helping clients in silicon valley. One of her significant wins was helping her Zillow clients purchase a home in their dream neighborhood in Los Gatos. 5544 Old San Jose Rd, Soquel was an important listing for us this quarter, as it was the home of one of our long-time agents, Tracy.

  • Third Quarter The third quarter was an absolute banner of a quarter! We had many unique listings, such as 590 Rider Ridge Rd, Santa Cruz. Some of the special features in this home include an astronomical observatory with a roof that opened fully for an excellent stargazing experience and a wide variety of mature native and tropical plants. This was an especially great win for the team as the home had previously been listed with several other agents over the years without getting into contract. We were able to secure several offers over asking price in just a few days for the sellers! We also broke records this quarter with 160 Deerhorn Ln, Felton. This multi-generational ranch is now the highest selling property in all of Felton! One of Tim Huxley’s and Marybeth Mcloughlin’s highlights of the year includes 1845 Amaya Ridge, which was a gorgeous, custom, off-grid build. For Pistol Pete this quarter featured another record breaking listing at 4628 Hilltop View Ln, San Jose. He had the pleasure of helping this client purchase the home several years ago and when they saw how hot the market was they decided to take advantage of it and called Pete to sell it. This resulted in highest ever sale in the Ranch at Silver Creek community.

  • Fourth Quarter – We closed out the year by opening not one but two new offices! We now have offices in downtown Soquel and Santa Clara to better serve our south county and silicon valley clientele. In addition to opening two new offices, we also had some incredible listings, including off-grid beauty with 200 Branson Ranch. On the other side of the mountain, we listed 685 Rancho Prieta Road, Los Gatos, which featured some of the most spectacular views that we’ve seen all year. We were also fortunate to list 202 Monterey St, Santa Cruz. This one was located in the highly desirable lower west side, had a large corner lot and ocean views! On the buying side of this quarter, two of our new agents closed their first deals on the team. Congratulations to Jennifer Nielsen and Stacia Fanara!
